Extended Services is a government initiative started in 2004 set out to provide better outcomes for every child by providing children young people and families access to a ‘Core Offer' of services in their community. The way these services are delivered is different for every school and community. This website shows how it is in the Swaffham cluster of schools.
Swaffham Extended Services works with schools and communities in areas around and including Swaffham to help provide access to childcare, learning and development opportunities, additional out of school activities, fun activities for children young people and families in the holidays and information on local support available for children, young people, parents/carers and the wider community. All of these services are called Extended Services.
All Extended Services do not have to be provided in the school or by the school; however the school should be able to provide parents/carers with information in order for them to be able to access these services locally. By 2010 all schools must meet the Government's core offer which consists of five elements:
